Best Indoor Drone [2020 Review]
Indoor Cinematic FPV Drone
how’s it going everybody my name is Paul
nur Cola aka Newark and I’m today’s
special guest star in Rota riot one of
my favorite tools for filming and fbb is
the cine whoop and this Shen drone
squirt is the perfect tool for making
one-shot wonder takes in fpv now we’re
here at the free fly warehouse in
and we’re surrounded by amazing
expensive cool camera equipment but
sometimes a tool like this can create
some really cool powerful shots now in a
challenging environment like this we
need good video and what better system
than the DJI digital fpv system it
allows us to make these amazing single
take shots so I want to thank Daniel
from RC test flight as well as free fly
and I’m going to challenge him and the
entire rotor riot crew to create their
own single take fpv shots so Zoe
Joshua Drew and Jamie let’s see what you
so what’s the ticket flies tonight you
know or the power Olympic we’re
definitely just gonna do the flippy the
floppy is gonna be power loop you can
absolutely flip-flop you can do power
loops you ever you want but everything
you want to come back to telling the
story so typically for me that means I
fly straighter lines I hit gaps I
incorporate choreography into the shot
to tell the story of an environment so
does that mean we’re gonna be flying sub
leveling you can absolutely fly
self-leveling typically I fly it in acro
mode but whatever it makes the best case
for you telling the story of where you
are that’s the perfect solution all
right Joshua let’s start with you yes
sir get any advice I have advice I want
you to make sure that everything is nice
and smooth juicy cinematic all right all
right that’s quick I notice that this
notice that this has right that means
that even indoors you can really do all
now I want you to pick a line so give me
like a full all right I don’t know if
you do it’s not obstacles no one know
you know that thank you oh I’m so good
at this we’re gonna get a bunch of
scooters going while you’re fine for
that yeah obstacles all sorts of
questions but honestly I’m just gonna
try to make some really nice smooth
yeah there’s a little bit less power
than you’re probably used to especially
the five inch quads or other little 3
inch quads but once you get the hang of
it it feels really comfortable I think
see the drums that are up above kind of
hanging from the ceiling hover around
those show-off the fact is there are
free flight quads and then as one of the
guys comes by start chasing them yeah so
that kind of transitions you from
showing up the space to showing that you
have fun here and then now we’re back to
the warehouse now you show off the
warehouse show off some of the OEM parts
all that stuff
something that I’m noticing with yours
is try to keep a more consistent
altitude so real study can smooth out
the pitches and the rolls pretty well
but when you change altitudes there’s no
way to mask that so try to keep it as
consistent on a horizontal line unless
you’re deciding to change lines
when I bring it in for a sliding landing
in front of the bus
I really really liked it I’ve been
interested in getting into the cinah
whoops for a minute
and getting to fly one especially one
that you’ve built i’ve already wanted to
do this and now it just like I have to I
have to get a kit and build my home like
I have to have one of these
I like the 3d what just kind of be able
to fly the machine aren’t set up upside
down everything in between but I can’t
do this on the cinebulle so I’m gonna
have to get creative let’s do this are
you really gonna fly like this yes I am
pretty impressed hug dip it’s upside
down right now yeah once at least pick
some lines let’s try it out find some
nice gaps there you go right through the
van beautiful so now we’re showing off
this environment you see the quads over
that are hanging from the ceiling yeah
let’s see if we can showcase the
environment that we’re in by kind of
flip-flopping if not flip-flopping but
like slowly moving around them it’s
showing off what this space looks like
that’s great now make that transition
nice and smooth and go down to the ones
on the work bench over there
right let’s chase drill around a little
bit so he’s gonna he’s essentially
giving us a tour of the space right
we’ve got something interesting where
we’re kind of following him but we’re
also getting a the lay of the land from
the perspective of the drone in a unique
way he wants to hit those gaps as he go
I think he’s terrified just don’t hit
his leather I can’t think anymore
anybody seen Daniel Daniel Daniel knows
the space better than anybody so I’m
excited to see where he’s gonna fly and
what did you do to show off the the
environment that we’re in it’s his home
home turf advantage oh he’s going into
another room so one of the things that
you can do with these that are awesome
is you could like with the DJ idea to
the left PV system you can move from
room to room it doesn’t break up hardly
at all I’m even on the spec you crashed
a little bit but let’s see what happens
so the beauty of the single take and
that’s why we wouldn’t just cut it and
try again is that you can showcase the
whole environment in one move and that
way it makes it look like it is magical
it’s almost CGI it’s something that no
other camera system can do
so having Daniel do the whole take all
in one it’s gonna make this look way
more incredible so it’s going into the
back room I haven’t even seen I haven’t
even walked in that room I’m getting to
explore it through this system this is
great he’s hitting gaps he’s showing off
all the equipment all the amazing stuff
that is here at free fly fly is great
I’ve actually never flown this
this is super smooth I like it this is
not has to go he’s spinning around the
giant mechanical arm in the background
did you line those up earlier yeah see
he even choreographic he’s built the
whole place see that’s what I’m talking
about he’s showing up the space he’s
flying around in a way that allows us to
kind of explore free fly with him and
that’s what cine whooping is all about I
need to get you through it a little more
but it was still super dialed super
locked in I was able to fly through a
lot of gaps I’m excited about this
because I’m hoping that I could be good
at this actually because with my style
of freestyle I usually like really long
flowy lines I want everything to link
together like hello it’s I definitely do
freestyle tricks but I kind of always
try to have that sort of cinematic feel
yeah so I guess I’m gonna try and do my
usual thing but just not like go upside
down like just try to always stay
relatively flat and just look for as
many gaps as possible that link without
what it is my story begins I think my
story begins looking at the free flight
logo let’s do that
it is the last worthy and free fly run
of a backwards I’m gonna turn around
Sydney whoops don’t have as much power
as your normal freestyle quads but I see
what you’re going for it is looking good
you gotta you gotta get target fixation
and you get the sardine right by the
file oh yeah
back it up back it up back it up
love in it I like that you’re staying
close to things you’re not just buying
an open space heading down that way it’s
like just a lot of describe it just
thing like yeah trying to like keep it
nice and smoke hit that ladder got I’m
gonna he’ll go all the way down nice
stealing Daniels line well why didn’t he
do that to you set those up in a lonely
oh is that why did he go to industry in
Tibet gosh Daniel then it took all the
good stuff and they’re just doing
dinners I find what how can I make this
unique oh well yeah that’s exactly it
you want to find the unique story so
Daniel did not go through the razor
how’s my speed like I feel like we’re so
slow but you get speed render right yeah
you can speed ramp it I’d say this is a
good speed maybe like 10% faster how
fast they’re just a little bit but would
you say it’s better to go faster slower
it’s lower so it’s better to go slow and
then speed it up if you have to do that
so that little tiny correction that’s
still gonna show off that even with the
real study yeah unfortunately ah it’s
not so like when I really didn’t really
my story oh wow what were you stories
brewing you got the
just ripping I needed to see a power
rape apple with this awesome you told a
story right you you showed the freefly
logo you went through this kind of work
area you showed the bathroom with the
warehouse you showed the machine shop
some of the cool tools they have that’s
what it’s all about it’s currently I
expect though it does actually feel like
I get kind of the same sensation that I
do when I’m really trying to set up one
of my like freestyle videos where I’m
I’m like pushing on the sticks really
hard and trying to move the sticks as
little as possible intention I just like
as little as possible like something’s
coming towards you and you’re like don’t
freak out don’t freak out just let it
there’s a moment right at the beginning
of that take where I thought you’re
gonna clip a pole you just held it I was
lightly nice work
that’s really fun they’re awesome I’m
gonna make one of these so who do you
think did the best I think I liked
Daniels the best he knew all otherwise
he but he got it right he’s telling the
story he’s showing off where he spent
the last three years working and putting
blood sweat and tears in thrive it’s
only only makes sense that Daniel had it
but I’m curious what you guys think it’s
it’s been awesome watching these guys
learn to fly Cindy whoops and and take
advantage of the space who do you think
had the best flight what did you like to
see Helen tell us in the comments below
I wanna see I want to see the master of
Cinna whoops like take it to the next
level instead of something that you
would actually choreograph let’s have
you know props and actors and all the
things that you would do on one of your
professional shoots yeah I like do this
do this proper yeah so a free flight had
asked me to come in and film this like
commercially let’s set it up as close to
They are increasingly conquering the skies: drones. While they used to be just something for professional use in film productions and more, today they are affordable to everyone – and interesting to many. Because there is an incredible number of different applications for drones, which are also called multicopters or quadrocopters. But which is the best drone for you? Exactly this question we answer you in our big drone with camera test.
Most drones are suitable for both outdoor and indoor tours. So you can take the drone in any weather and not just rely on sunny days. The outdoor suitability, however, is reflected in a higher price and larger dimensions – not ideal for indoor flights.
If you only want to fly home with the mini-quadcopter at home or occasionally in the garden, you can find the best indoor drone here.
DroneX Pro – our test winner!
There can only be one winner – and there is only one test winner: the DroneX Pro. Why? Well, that’s quick and easy to explain. It offers a lot of what a good drone should offer. These include a high resolution (HD) of the built-in camera, a long-range and altitude, easy to learn even for beginners control, good battery life and thus flight duration and much more. And best of all, the DroneX Pro Mini Drone is also much cheaper than any other model in our Top 5. So there can only be one final result: The DroneX Pro is the best drone with camera and therefore our absolute recommendation for all who Want to buy a very good drone, without spending hundreds or even thousands of euros!
Parrot Anafi Drone
Anafi is the new drone from Parrot. It has a range of up to 4 km and a maximum flight time of 25 minutes with one battery charge. The practical thing is that in the extended version two additional batteries are included, so you can fly up to an hour and 15 minutes. It takes the Anafi Drone of Parrot with its 21-megapixel camera videos in 4K and high-resolution photos that do not blur thanks to three-axis gimbal. It is also well-equipped with a geofencing function and a Return To Home function. However, all in the end, a quite considerable price, in the recommended Extended version at pretty proud 800 euros. That’s quite a bit of money, especially when compared to the previously introduced DroneX Pro, which is why it only reaches second place in our drone with a camera test in the end.
DJI Phantom 4 Advanced
For those who want to get the most out of their drone-captured photos and videos, the DJI Phantom 4 Advanced is a great choice. Especially in the Advanced version, DJI has screwed the camera even more towards the somewhat cheaper standard version. It is equipped with a 1 inch CMOS sensor (instead of the 1/2.3-inch sensor of the DJI Phantom 4 Standard), which provides even better picture quality. Even otherwise, the equipment can be more than impressive. It flies with a battery charge up to 30 minutes and over 70 km / h fast, has a long-range and all sorts of sensors and flight modes, eg. B. a return function. The flagship of this drone with quite considerable dimensions and a more massive appearance than many of our counterparts in our drone with camera test is and remains the camera – assuming that you have just 1,000 euros left for the DJI Phantom 4 Advanced.
DJI Mavic Pro
The 1,000 Euro Mavic Pro is also a very well equipped drone from the market leader DJI. It can stay airborne for up to 27 minutes on a single battery charge, covering up to 13 km, up to 7 km away from you and the remote control. She flies up to 65 km / h in sports mode and can, among other things, fly back to you on her own. Also, it is packed with all sorts of sensors such as GPS. Below the drone is a camera with 4K 12 Megapixel installed, which provides for more than solid photos. A three-axis gimbal is included, as well as 1080P / 720P live feed to your smartphone, which you can clasp in the usual manner in the remote control.
DJI Mavic Air
The DJI Mavic Air is a great companion for all your adventures. Because both the drone and the remote control can be folded very compact. Beyond this space-saving, this very compact and handy drone is equipped with all sorts of features and functions. It can fly soundly for 21 minutes at a time with one battery charge, moving up to 4 km from the transmitter. Onboard are a variety of sensors and modes, the equipment is not quite as upscale and multi-functional as other models in our test. Not to be missed, of course, a camera that dissolves in the DJI Mavic Air with 12 megapixels and filming with 4K. Slow-motion videos, ActiveTrack and gesture control also show here that this drone is intended primarily for action and fun. However, it is anything but a bargain.
What kinds of drones are there?
Drones and multicopters are currently a real trend. No wonder, because they offer many different possibilities, as we will show you later on this page. And with so many different uses, there are different types of drones. And exactly on these, we give you a small overview below.
Mini drones for indoor use
As a rule, drones are flown outside. But there are also small mini drones, which are intended for indoor use. They are particularly small and light, and also very robust. With them, you can fly through your house or apartment. In addition, they are easy to fly and sometimes offer a mini drone with a camera and a small camera. However, for the usually low price (it starts from about 20 euros going on), not much to expect, so no remote control, no live video transmission, etc. For outdoor use, they are also due to their low weight and size not suitable because they are not navigable there. These mini drones, also known as nanocopters, are especially suitable for kids to fly around in the nursery.
Beginner drones for the outdoor area
The most popular are cheap drones with camera, which are aimed primarily at beginners and “normal users”. They are usually relatively cheap to have but come with rather a rudimentary camera equipment as well as fewer features and performance such as flight time and maximum distance. But they are usually easier to fly than professional models and ideal for collecting first flight experience. The exception here is the DroneX Pro, which is also in the price range for beginners but offers significantly more than any other counterparty.
Professional drones for outdoors
A professional drone usually offers sophisticated equipment. This is z. As a camera with 4K resolution, the transmission of real-time video (ie from the perspective of the pilot) for remote control or the smartphone or even an FPV glasses. With gimbal/image stabilization smooth videos can be created, which are stored directly on a memory card. Some models also offer GPS, a return-to-home function or can dictate a specific flight route before the flight. In addition, they fly much longer, higher and further than most entry-level drones. For professional drones but also cost a few hundred to several thousand euros, are therefore hardly affordable for private users with a limited budget.
What you can use a drone for?
There are many reasons why you can buy and fly a drone. Of course, if it’s a drone with a camera, recording videos and shooting photos is one of the most popular reasons. Of course, this does not just have to be for professional TV recordings, where more and more often a professional drone is used instead of a crane or a helicopter. But also for private recordings, a drone with a camera offers many possibilities.
In today’s social media, photos are taken without end and published on Instagram, Facebook and co. With a drone, you provide a special perspective for selfies, landscapes and more. Instead of fiddling around with a silly selfie stick, you simply take your snapshots with a drone with a camera. This is not only great for selfies and opens up completely new perspectives. But it’s also cool with landscape shots and more.
If the camera has a real-time transmission (FPV), you can virtually fly with it and explore your surroundings from above. Of course, this is especially interesting in spectacular landscapes, but also your immediate neighborhood. However, you should of course always observe and comply with the legal conditions, so that your drone flight does not attract legal consequences.
In addition to the impressive possibilities for photos and videos, you can also just fly a drone for the pleasure of flying. So it replaces a model airplane or an RC helicopter, which are usually much more complicated to fly and even more expensive. Even drone racing is available as a leisure activity. But then these are special drones that are used there.
What advantages does a good drone offer you?
If you decide to buy the drone for the best drone for your area of operation, this offers you many advantages. It is equipped with a good camera, so you can take great shots of you, groups (eg at a family party like a wedding) or the environment or landscapes. For the quality of the camera is crucial, especially for photos and good videos, a drone with an HD camera is usually sufficient.
In addition, a good drone is easy to fly even for beginners and just makes fun. It should also be built as robust as possible so that the first crash landing does not immediately lead to frustration and a destroyed drone. Does a drone meet these requirements, as the DroneX Pro does, then limitless fun is virtually pre-programmed and directly on board?
What do you think about the best drone?
We can buy this question with one sentence: By ordering you the DroneX Pro. As you can see from the results of our large drone test, this mini drone is the perfect drone for many applications – and virtually for everyone. If we assume that you are looking for a drone for highly professional TV recordings, but rather for private use, you do not do anything wrong with the DroneX Pro. It makes great shots, is easy to fly and also extremely affordable, as it is MUCH cheaper than the other and not better drones from our comparison. Find out more about this really great and highly recommended drone in our DroneX Pro review.
After we have once again recommended our test winner in the drone with camera test, we want to go into more detail on the various criteria that are crucial for buying a drone with camera and about which you should think before buying.
At the top of this page, we have already introduced you to the different types of drones from the mini drone to the professional drone. So before you get into a specific model, why should you first consider which type of drone is right for you, ie where and for what do you want to use it? Also crucial is the budget, as this can certainly determine how much it can go up in equipment and Co – unless you opt for the DroneX Pro, the top features for a small price.
In most cases, drones are used to capture photos and videos. Of course, if you want to do this too, you have to buy a drone with a camera. But that’s not difficult since most quadrocopters have one on board. Only with very cheap models or a professional drone, which is intended for the installation of a camera, they are not with the purchase thereby.
The second question is about the quality of the camera. We recommend you at least a drone with HD camera, as it is the case with our test winner, the Drone Pro X. As a rule, this is enough for good video recordings and excellent photos, so it is usually sufficient for private use. Only with particularly high demands on the video quality, you should grab a drone with a 4K camera. However, they have a major disadvantage: they usually cost a multiple of the drones with an HD camera.
The first question is after the controller. Simple drones can often be controlled by smartphone and matching app. Better devices have remote control and, depending on the equipment, use the smartphone or a display integrated into the remote control as a live video (FPV) display. Another aspect is the stabilization system, where 6-axis stabilization is already standard today. Also questionable is whether the drone requires GPS or not. Other important features are the flight time (ie battery life) and the range. They should both be as large as possible so that the drone can stay in the air for a long time and reach the widest possible distances and heights.
Especially for beginners in drone flying is important that the drone is easy to fly. In addition, it should be versatile, so large that it can also be used outdoors, but also small enough to take off occasionally indoors. And of course, it should be as robust and stable as possible. Because especially as a flight beginner, it can sometimes come to one or the other crash landing. This should survive a good drone as unscathed as possible, so they can take off again immediately.
Small Indoor Drone Conquers the Home
The mini quadcopters presented here are especially suitable for indoor flights, as they are very small. While the smallest indoor drone is barely larger than a 2-euro piece, the remaining quadrocopters for home are hardly larger than a fist. This has the advantage that the entire apartment becomes a playground!
- Chair legs become slalom poles with the indoor drone.
- Shelves for helipads.
- Hall and rooms to racetracks.
- Doorframes to mini-tunnels.
While a large quadrocopter with a camera would be too sluggish for such sporty and sparkling hunts, the small indoor drone for home is in her element.
Indoor drone: make the garden insecure!
Even if the small quadrocopters are designed for home, you can also have fun in the garden. On windless days there is nothing against heating between bushes, branches, and grasses. Once again, I speak here from my own experience!
Nevertheless, you should not overdo it: Against wind and humidity, the small indoor drone has little to align and is the plaything of the elements. Therefore, take care and only perform the indoor drone in sunny weather.
Indoor drone with a camera or without a camera?
Whether you buy a mini-drone with a camera or leave it at a lighter and cheaper beginner model, is up to you. One should, however, make it clear before purchasing that a mini-drone with a camera is less maneuverable than a mini-drone without a camera. This is mainly due to the additional weight: an indoor drone weighs around 30 – 70 grams without a camera. A camera mounted under the drone adds an extra 5-15 grams. For the flight behavior, the liveliness and the duration of flight of the drone that is only detrimental. If you only need the indoor drone for flying at home and not for filming, you should, therefore, consider whether it really should be a drone with a camera.
Our Conclusion on Drone to Buy
Drones are not in vain becoming increasingly popular. They allow a change of perspective and everyone to see the world from above. Especially for photo and video recordings, they are perfect to stand out from the gray mass of snapshots, selfies. But it is also more than understandable to simply take off with a drone for the pleasure of flying.
So that these wishes come true, you should buy the best drone available in the market. And that’s exactly what you’ll find with our big drone test. So quickly scroll up and order our test winner or one of the other excellent drones, so you too can see the world from above soon.
